Tampa General Hospital has appointed Lijah Lokenauth as its new executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective January 4, 2027. Lokenauth, who currently serves as the system’s senior vice president of finance, will take the helm of the organization’s financial strategy as it continues its statewide expansion.

Lokenauth’s elevation follows a tenure that began in 2018 when he joined the academic health system as corporate controller. Over the past six years, he has climbed through the leadership ranks, overseeing budgeting, revenue management, and operational optimization. His recent work includes coordinating major strategic initiatives, such as the ambulatory care partnership with Mass General Brigham and the integration of TGH DeSoto into the hospital network.

President and CEO John Couris noted that the promotion reflects the system's internal development philosophy and Lokenauth’s performance during periods of intense growth. The transition is part of a broader leadership adjustment: the outgoing CFO, Mark Runyon, will shift into a new role as executive vice president of executive special projects. Runyon, who joined the organization in 2020, was instrumental in securing over $1.2 billion in bond financing and managing the hospital’s fiscal response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before his time in Florida, Lokenauth held financial leadership roles at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. A certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner, he holds a degree from Queens College at the City University of New York and was recognized as one of the 2023 40 Under 40 honorees by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
