American Exchange Group will oversee product design and manufacturing, while WSG Brands acts as the primary operating partner. This division of labor mirrors the strategy used by WSG during its recent acquisition of Von Dutch, where the firm aggressively expanded retail distribution and licensing agreements. The new owners plan to leverage Allbirds’ existing global brand recognition to move beyond its current footprint.

Alen Mamrout, CEO of American Exchange Group, stated that the partnership intends to preserve the brand’s core identity while diversifying its market presence. Jack Cheika, founder of WSG Brands, characterized the purchase as one of the most significant opportunities in the current retail landscape. A consortium of strategic investors and manufacturers backed the transaction, with further details on upcoming licensing initiatives and expansion plans expected later this year.
