Todd G. Fritch Honored for Higher Education Leadership

Fritch’s path to the university presidency began in the sciences, with a doctorate in geology earned at Baylor University in 1999. His transition into administration gained momentum through leadership roles at Northeastern University, the American College of Greece, and as chief academic officer at Shorelight. He further refined his executive expertise through programs at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, including an executive certificate in higher education leadership completed in 2025.

Since joining the University of West Alabama in 2025, Fritch has prioritized organizational culture and physical infrastructure. Within his first 13 months, he implemented a 10-year strategic plan centered on employee engagement, a move credited with driving record enrollment figures. The university has also directed $23 million toward upgrading its student union facilities. Fritch attributes these gains to a management philosophy built on accountability and calculated risk-taking, aiming to double on-campus enrollment within the next 15 years. Beyond his campus duties, he serves on the boards of the Higher Education Partnership of Alabama and the Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences.
