GEM Health Moves Into Retail With Mushroom-Sourced Multivitamins
Moving beyond direct-to-consumer sales, wellness brand GEM Health has launched its Daily Bite multivitamin in Sprouts Farmers Market locations nationwide. The product features Earthlight Whole Food Vitamin D, a mushroom-derived ingredient from PLT Health Solutions, marking a strategic shift to place food-based supplements directly into the vitamin aisle.
The GEM Daily Bite aims to replace traditional pills and capsules with a nutrient-dense, food-based format. Each serving contains 20 mcg of vitamin D2 derived from organic, UV-exposed mushrooms, alongside 187.5 mg of beta glucans, 2 billion CFU of probiotics, and 250 mg of turmeric extract. The formulation also incorporates plant proteins from pumpkin seeds, quinoa sprouts, and a blend of digestive botanicals like ginger and cardamom.
Sara Cullen, founder and CEO of GEM, developed the product to address specific nutrient gaps while maintaining a clean-label profile. According to Cullen, the goal was to create a bioavailable supplement that integrates into daily routines without the reliance on synthetic fillers. Steve Fink, Vice President of Marketing at PLT Health Solutions, noted that the partnership reflects a broader market trend toward ingredient transparency and sustainable sourcing. Beyond Sprouts, the product is currently available via Amazon and the company’s own digital platform, with wider distribution supported by wholesale partners including KeHE and Faire.
