Insomnia Cookies Transitions to Larger Chunks Across Fan-Favorite Lineup

Beginning today, Insomnia Cookies is phasing out traditional chocolate chips in favor of chunks three times their size. The upgrade affects six popular varieties, including Cookies ‘N Cream and Peanut Butter Cup Deluxe, aiming to create more substantial pockets of melted chocolate without increasing the price for customers.

The Philadelphia-based bakery chain spent six months testing the new inclusions, which replace previous chips on a one-to-one weight basis. By using larger pieces of semisweet and white chocolate, the company aims to enhance the texture and melt profile of its signature warm cookies. While the recipes for these items underwent minor adjustments to accommodate the change, bake times and oven temperatures remain consistent with previous standards.

Jessica Murgittroyd, a Cookievation consultant for the brand, noted that the move is designed to provide a more indulgent bite. The transition is currently underway across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, with a full rollout expected by October 1. The decision follows internal data showing that more than 1.75 million customers have opted for chunk-based products during their first purchase since 2023, signaling a clear consumer preference for the larger format.
