Brooklyn Families Gather at Plaza Auto Mall for Annual Back-to-School Event
Hundreds of students walked away with new backpacks and supplies on August 25 as Plaza Auto Mall hosted its annual “Plaza Has Your Back” celebration. The Nostrand Avenue event transformed a local dealership into a community hub, blending essential educational support with carnival-style festivities for neighborhood families.

The initiative brought together a wide coalition of local leaders, including City Council members Farah N. Louis and Inna Vernikov, alongside Assemblymembers Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn and Kalman Yeger. Representatives from the NYPD’s Brooklyn South bureau and local community organizations, such as COJO of Flatbush and the JCCMP, also participated to help distribute the kits.
Beyond the academic supplies, the event featured face painting, live music, and various snacks to mark the start of the school year. Adam Rosatti, general manager of the auto group, noted that the effort serves as a thank you to the community that has supported the dealership for over five decades. Founded in 1975, the family-owned enterprise operates multiple major car franchises along the Nostrand Avenue corridor.
