Wix Faces Securities Class Action Over Alleged AI Growth Misstatements

A securities class action lawsuit has been filed against Wix.com Ltd. in the Northern District of Illinois, accusing the company of inflating the competitiveness of its AI-driven products. Investors allege that management masked mounting costs and product deficiencies while promoting an aggressive growth narrative throughout 2025 and early 2026.

The litigation targets the period between February 19, 2025, and May 12, 2026, during which Wix shareholders reportedly absorbed a series of stock price declines totaling approximately $89.36 per share. According to the complaint filed by SueWallSt, the company’s leadership touted AI innovations—specifically Wix Studio, Base44, and Wix Harmony—as primary engines for revenue growth while maintaining a guidance of up to $2 billion for fiscal year 2025.

Plaintiffs contend that the reality behind these offerings diverged sharply from management's public statements. The lawsuit points to a Q1 2026 disclosure where Wix acknowledged that its Harmony platform suffered from missing capabilities and "holes" in functionality, leading to an exodus of professional developer clients to competing AI tools. Additionally, the suit highlights that costs associated with Base44, including AI compute expenses and marketing, significantly impacted the company’s free cash flow, contrary to previous growth projections.

Joseph E. Levi, Esq., representing the plaintiffs, stated that the case hinges on the company's failure to disclose known risks to its projections. As the market learned of the technical limitations and financial strain, WIX shares fell, prompting this legal action. The deadline for lead plaintiffs to come forward is September 22, 2026. Participation in the suit is handled on a contingency basis, meaning there are no upfront costs for eligible investors seeking to recover losses incurred during the class period.
