Ponsse Launches Thin Line Series for Precision Forest Thinning

Finland-based forestry equipment manufacturer Ponsse has unveiled the Wisent Thin Line forwarder and Scorpion Thin Line harvester, two specialized models engineered to navigate the spatial constraints of thinning operations. Sales for these agile, low-impact machines commence immediately, with assembly scheduled at the company’s Vieremä facility before the end of the year.

The Wisent Thin Line features a 10-tonne load capacity and a refined load space geometry, allowing operators to maneuver through dense stands with greater ease. By reducing the machine's overall weight and ground pressure, Ponsse aims to minimize ecological disturbance, particularly when working across soft terrain. The unit also incorporates enhanced lighting arrays derived from direct user feedback.

For harvesting, the Scorpion Thin Line leverages the established stability and visibility of the original Scorpion platform. The manufacturer has recalibrated the machine’s internal settings to prioritize fuel efficiency during thinning cycles. Customers can equip the harvester with either the existing PONSSE H5 or the newly released H6 harvester head. According to Marko Mattila, Chief Sales, Service & Marketing Officer, these additions provide forest professionals with the specialized tools necessary to maintain high standards of forest management while improving operational versatility.
