Abound Taps Monad Blockchain for Global Financial Expansion
After processing over $500 million in remittances, the US-based super-app Abound is shifting its architecture to the Monad Layer 1 blockchain. The company, backed by Times Internet, plans to launch a multi-currency wallet and AI-driven payment services to better serve the global Indian diaspora throughout 2026.

The platform, which initially gained traction by streamlining cross-border transfers between the US and India, now aims to broaden its scope. CEO Nishkaam Mehta confirmed that the upcoming roadmap focuses on creating an automated financial ecosystem. This includes interest-bearing accounts and the integration of the x402 agentic payment protocol, which utilizes Monad’s high-performance infrastructure to handle complex, multi-currency transactions.
Abound’s pivot toward agentic workflows marks a departure from its original remittance-only model. By leveraging Monad’s institutional-grade blockchain, the company intends to offer a unified interface for managing assets across borders. The new wallet product, currently slated for a Q3 2026 release, will serve as the primary hub for these services. Raj Parekh, Head of Payments and Stablecoins at Monad, noted that the partnership is designed to scale the app's reach, providing the reliability required for users managing their financial lives across multiple jurisdictions.
