Bandwidth Secures Global ISO/IEC 42001 Certification for AI Systems

Raleigh-based cloud communications firm Bandwidth Inc. has secured ISO/IEC 42001 certification, marking a shift toward standardized management of artificial intelligence. Unlike narrow certifications often limited to specific software silos, this mandate covers the company’s entire global product suite, operational processes, and communications infrastructure.

The certification addresses a growing market demand for reliability in voice AI deployments. As enterprises integrate agentic AI into customer engagement workflows, the underlying infrastructure must guarantee security and auditability. According to Gartner, security and compliance are becoming foundational requirements, with projections suggesting 85 percent of global enterprises will require enhanced AI-based security in their CPaaS toolsets by 2029.

Kade Ross, Chief Information Officer at Bandwidth, emphasized that the rigor of this certification extends across the company’s full communications stack, including its Maestro orchestration platform. By owning and operating its global network, Bandwidth aims to provide a layer of observability that virtual providers often struggle to replicate. This achievement builds upon the company’s existing ISO/IEC 27001 information security standards, further positioning its infrastructure to support high-scale enterprise AI projects.
