Weiner arrives at Katten from Sidley Austin, bringing a track record that spans healthcare, technology, and real estate sectors. Her practice focuses on navigating distressed mergers and acquisitions, receiverships, and out-of-court restructurings, alongside advising on debtor-in-possession financing and bankruptcy litigation. Steven Reisman, global chair of the firm’s restructuring group, noted that Weiner’s ability to represent various constituencies throughout market cycles provides the firm with a distinct advantage in anticipating client needs.

Her appointment aligns with Katten’s broader strategic objective to scale its West Coast presence. Christine Fitzgerald, managing partner of the firm’s California offices, highlighted that the addition of a practitioner recognized by Chambers USA for her work in California is intended to serve clients on a national scale. In 2022, Weiner was named one of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s "40 Under 40" honorees, a recognition of her influence within the insolvency community.
