CVC DIF acquires majority stake in German data center firm firstcolo
Global investment firm CVC DIF has reached an agreement to acquire a majority stake in firstcolo from CUBE Infrastructure. The deal, expected to close by the end of September 2026, aims to accelerate the development of a scalable, AI-ready data center platform across the German market.

The partnership centers on the FRA7 greenfield project in Rosbach vor der Höhe, a facility designed to handle the intensive power requirements of modern artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. The site is engineered for a total capacity of 24 MW, featuring liquid-cooled racks capable of supporting 200 kW each. Through a collaboration with regional energy provider OVAG, the project will also incorporate waste-heat recovery into local district heating networks, targeting a power usage effectiveness (PUE) rating below 1.2.
Founded in 2007, firstcolo currently serves over 350 customers from its existing facilities in the Frankfurt metropolitan region. While CVC DIF assumes a controlling interest, the founding management team, including CEO Jerome Evans and COO Nicolaj Kamensek, will retain equity stakes and continue to lead daily operations. The investment is intended to provide the capital necessary to scale the business and expand its footprint into other major German markets, focusing on enterprise workloads and sovereign cloud requirements.
