Michael Fuchs Honored as Pinnacle Lifetime Member of The Inner Circle

Dr. Fuchs holds dual roles as Chief of Gastroenterology at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System and Professor of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. His work centers on chronic liver disease, specifically metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). By integrating artificial intelligence and non-invasive biomarkers into clinical practice, he aims to modernize diagnostic standards for his patients. Beyond his clinical responsibilities, he directs GI research at the Richmond Institute for Veterans Research, where he oversees the Department of Veterans Affairs' largest gastroenterology clinical research operation, managing numerous phase 2 and 3 trials.

His academic foundation includes a combined MD and Ph.D. from the University of Ulm in Germany, followed by advanced fellowship training at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Throughout his career, Dr. Fuchs has produced over 200 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to various medical textbooks. He currently leads a multidisciplinary team of 12 physicians and 9 advanced practice providers, maintaining active memberships in the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. He attributes his professional trajectory to the mentorship of leaders such as Eduard Stange, Martin Carey, David Cohen, and Arun Sanyal.
