India Emerges as a Global Hub for Cloud Native Development

The report, which analyzed data from over 12,500 developers globally, highlights a demographic shift driving this growth. Unlike many established markets, 70% of India's cloud native workforce is under age 35, with nearly a third of the community comprising developers under 25. This influx of young talent is accelerating the transition toward platform engineering, where Kubernetes usage has reached 42% among backend developers, notably surpassing traditional container adoption rates.

Infrastructure strategy in the region is also diverging from global norms. Hybrid cloud deployment has hit 44% in India, significantly higher than the 34% global average. According to Jonathan Bryce, executive director at CNCF, this momentum reflects a broader industry pivot toward AI-native systems built on open standards. As organizations mature, the integration of these technologies is moving beyond simple adoption, with approximately half of India's professional AI developers now utilizing cloud native infrastructure to support their workloads.
