Halifax Humane Society Launches $5.4 Million Veterinary Hospital

A former sales center at 2400 LPGA Blvd. in Daytona Beach will soon become a lifeline for local pet owners struggling with rising medical costs. The Halifax Humane Society has tapped BPF Design and Coleman Goodemote Construction to build AccessVet, a facility dedicated to affordable, compassionate veterinary care.

The project represents a $5.4 million investment, split between a $2.9 million property purchase and $2.5 million earmarked for renovations and medical equipment. CEO Sean Hawkins emphasized that the hospital aims to prevent pet surrenders by removing financial barriers, noting that one in four Americans has faced difficulties accessing veterinary services in the last two years. The facility is designed to complement existing private practices rather than compete with them, focusing on wellness care, spay/neuter surgeries, and injury treatment for families in need.

Construction draws on the expertise of local firms with deep roots in the region. BPF Design, known for its work on the historic Streamline Hotel, will handle the architectural planning, while Coleman Goodemote Construction—a veteran of regional projects like One Daytona—will manage the build. With the site already secured and plans finalized, the organization expects to open the doors to the community in early 2027. The hospital also intends to serve as a future teaching hub for veterinary students, further cementing the site as a long-term resource for Volusia County.
