BLUETTI Launches FridgePower Battery to Combat Summer Blackouts

After securing $2.2 million in crowdfunding, BLUETTI has officially moved its FridgePower battery backup into retail. The ultra-slim unit functions as a dedicated uninterruptible power supply for home refrigerators, designed to prevent food spoilage during sudden grid failures, hurricane-related outages, or extended periods of vacancy.

The system distinguishes itself from standard portable power stations through a fridge-first design that prioritizes 24/7 reliability. With a 2,016Wh capacity and 1,800W output, the base unit maintains power for a standard refrigerator for 21.6 hours. Users seeking longer protection can scale the system up to 8kWh using BlueCell 200 expansion batteries, providing up to four days of autonomy. The device switches to battery power within 10 milliseconds of a grid drop, operating silently at 30 dB without emissions or fuel requirements.

Measuring just 2.95 inches thick, the hardware is intended for permanent installation beside kitchen appliances or wall mounting. The unit utilizes LiFePO₄ battery chemistry rated for over 4,000 cycles, suggesting a lifespan exceeding a decade. Through the BLUETTI App, owners can toggle between four UPS modes—Standard, PV Priority, Time-of-Use, and Customized—while receiving automated weather alerts. The product is currently available on the company website and Amazon, with entry-level pricing starting at $849 through July 15.
