Google unveils Sprout, an autonomous robotic plant tender
Sprout is a small, wandering robot designed to hunt for the perfect patch of sunlight and notify owners when their houseplants go thirsty. While Google developed the device to showcase the capabilities of its AI Studio platform, the company confirms there are no plans to bring the machine to market.

The project serves as a whimsical demonstration of how artificial intelligence can interface with physical hardware to solve mundane domestic chores. By navigating autonomously, the robot ensures that a plant remains in the most favorable environmental conditions, effectively turning a stationary object into a mobile, interactive companion. Although the device remains a prototype restricted to internal labs, it highlights the increasing integration of autonomous navigation software within consumer-facing AI ecosystems.
