iFi Debuts UP Travel Max With Bi-Directional Bluetooth Audio
The new UP Travel Max from iFi arrives as a versatile alternative to existing Bluetooth dongles, offering both transmission and reception capabilities. Priced at $129, the device moves beyond simple headphone connectivity, allowing users to stream wireless audio directly into older vehicle stereos or other non-Bluetooth sound systems.

While Twelve South’s Airfly remains limited to sending audio from wired sources to wireless headphones, iFi’s latest hardware introduces a two-way signal path. The UP Travel Max incorporates Bluetooth 5.4 and supports the aptX Lossless codec to preserve high-fidelity sound quality during wireless playback.
Beyond basic connectivity, the dongle features Auracast technology. This addition enables the device to broadcast audio to an unlimited number of listeners, provided they use compatible headphones. By bridging the gap between legacy wired equipment and modern wireless standards, the unit provides a functional upgrade for users looking to modernize their existing audio setups.
