Final’s 40-gram Porta headphones redefine minimalist audio
At a mere 40 grams, the new Porta headphones from Japanese manufacturer Final push the boundaries of wearable audio weight. By stripping back the chassis to a single, structural wire frame, the company has created an on-ear device that makes standard 200-gram alternatives feel like heavy-duty hardware.

The design aesthetic draws clear inspiration from the classic, ultra-light headphones once bundled with Sony Walkman players. Functionality remains intentionally stripped-back: the device relies on a 57mAh battery providing eight hours of playback, utilizing Bluetooth 5.4 for connectivity with SBC and AAC codec support. While the lack of active noise cancellation is a trade-off for the open, on-ear architecture, the inclusion of an IPX4 rating ensures the unit withstands rain and perspiration.
Final has opened preorders via its online store at 12,800 yen, approximately $80, with units shipping on October 23rd. The headphones are available with either black or orange ear pads. While the company maintains an Amazon storefront for US customers, the Porta has yet to appear on that platform, leaving international buyers to navigate the primary Japanese portal for the time being.
