Redwood Public Law Debuts Sports, Arts and Entertainment Practice
Oakland-based Redwood Public Law LLP has consolidated its expertise in public-private development and athlete representation into a formal interdisciplinary practice. The new unit aims to bridge the gap between civic infrastructure projects and the commercial interests of athletes, artists, and entertainment organizations across California.

The practice is led by partners Richard D. Pio Roda, Eric S. Casher, and Steve Ngo, supported by Senior Of Counsels Jade Y. Ramos and Neha Shah. By merging public law with transactional capabilities, the firm intends to manage the complexities of stadium development, intellectual property, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreements. The team is currently advising the Oakland Acquisition Company on the redevelopment of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, a project that highlights the firm's focus on the intersection of community assets and private enterprise.
Beyond large-scale venue development, the firm provides legal infrastructure for individual talent and creative organizations. Jade Y. Ramos, who previously competed as an NCAA Division I athlete, brings a specialized focus on NIL regulations and collegiate sports law. The practice covers a broad spectrum of services, including sponsorship negotiations, labor and employment matters, and the governance of non-profit cultural entities. Redwood Public Law, which serves as general counsel to over 30 special districts and 16 California cities, will host an inaugural launch event for this division on October 16 at the Historical Rotunda Building in Oakland.
