Sidel launches EvoDECO Next to cut label material and carbon footprints
By shifting from traditional full wraparound designs to partial label configurations, Sidel’s new EvoDECO Next system promises to reduce plastic consumption by up to 75%. The technology aims to reconcile high-speed industrial output with sustainability goals, allowing manufacturers to slash both operational costs and CO₂ emissions simultaneously.

The system represents a departure from standard roll-fed machinery, utilizing an integrated architecture designed specifically for shorter labels. According to Sidel, a 90-degree partial label configuration can remove over 200 tonnes of BOPP material annually on high-volume lines, potentially yielding savings of approximately €723,000 per year while preventing 346 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
Technological refinements include a rotary cutting device mounted directly on the transfer drum and a Smart Buffer that maintains consistent production speeds during reel changes without requiring extra floor space. Furthermore, the inclusion of a Smart Camera eliminates the need for traditional reference marks, providing greater flexibility in label design and material usage. These advancements are part of the company's broader JUST label initiative, which prioritizes lower total cost of ownership alongside environmental efficiency.
