The AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey, conducted in late September, reveals a stark disconnect between the president’s self-reported $2.2 billion windfall and the financial strain facing average households. While 56% of respondents believe Trump has prioritized his private business interests, only 23% feel he has prioritized the needs of the country. This skepticism spans party lines, drawing condemnation from 89% of Democrats and half of all independent voters.

Public frustration coincides with rising costs for daily essentials. Senator Elizabeth Warren’s "Trumpflation Tracker" indicates that gasoline prices have surged 43.7% during the current term, with significant spikes in healthcare, electricity, and childcare expenses. Senator Dick Durbin criticized the administration’s economic trajectory, pointing to tariffs and budget cuts as primary drivers of the ongoing inflation crisis. With midterm elections looming, these figures reflect a growing perception that the administration’s policies favor corporate and familial wealth over the economic stability of the American public.
