VoteMate Integrates USAFacts to Combat AI Election Misinformation

With 90% of AI-generated responses to midterm election queries found to contain material flaws or partisan bias, the nonprofit VoteMate is fighting back. The organization announced a new partnership today, integrating USAFacts data directly into its AI assistant to provide voters with verified, non-partisan government statistics.

The integration aims to replace unreliable general-purpose chatbot outputs with grounded, source-backed insights. By connecting its platform to the USAFacts database—which relies exclusively on official government records—VoteMate intends to offer immediate context on complex issues like public spending, healthcare, and economic trends. This tool functions alongside existing integrations with Ballotpedia to ensure users can navigate specific candidates and ballot measures with consistent, citation-heavy support.

Alex Iovine, CEO of VoteMate, emphasized that the goal is to bridge the gap between complex public policy and the average voter’s needs. The initiative addresses a critical vulnerability in the current election cycle: the tendency of AI to hallucinate or adopt political framing when answering subjective questions. Both VoteMate and USAFacts maintain high reliability ratings from Ad Fontes Media, a distinction meant to reassure users that the underlying data remains insulated from commercial or political agendas. The updated assistant is available nationwide via web, iOS, and Android platforms.
