Darcy Partners Acquires Realize 2050 to Launch Darcy Power Unit
Darcy Partners has acquired energy consultancy Realize 2050, creating a specialized business unit dubbed Darcy Power. The firm aims to bridge the gap between technical intelligence and actionable utility strategy, appointing Realize 2050 founder Chris Richardson as CEO of the newly formed division to scale operations across North America.

The acquisition splits Darcy Partners into two distinct operational pillars: Darcy Power, which focuses on utility infrastructure and grid modernization, and the existing Darcy Oil & Gas unit. While Realize 2050 will maintain its brand identity and current team to serve existing consulting clients, those customers gain access to Darcy’s proprietary benchmarking and community-driven research network.
Sam Long, who remains Chairman and CEO of Darcy Partners, noted that utility participation in their network has quadrupled over the past four years. By integrating Richardson’s advisory expertise, the company intends to move beyond providing raw technology intelligence toward helping utilities navigate specific capital deployment and interconnection challenges. Richardson emphasized that the merger addresses a critical industry friction point: the inability to convert vast amounts of market information into decisive, risk-managed operational strategies. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
