Gas Liquids Engineering Finalizes Design for Alberta Origins CCS Hub
Construction crews have broken ground on Enhance Energy’s Origins carbon capture and storage hub near Clive, Alberta, following the completion of detailed engineering by Calgary-based Gas Liquids Engineering. The project, designed to link existing transport infrastructure to a new sequestration site, marks a significant expansion of the province’s carbon management network.

Gas Liquids Engineering delivered the technical specifications for the Origins CO₂ pipeline and its associated facilities. The scope of their work spanned pipeline hydraulics, mechanical and process design, and the integration of complex electrical, instrumentation, and telecommunications systems. The firm also focused on long-term pipeline integrity and safety protocols to meet regional regulatory requirements.
Stuart MacKenzie, President and CEO of Gas Liquids Engineering, described the transition to the construction phase as a milestone for the local industry. With the design work finished, the Origins hub is slated to enter active service in early 2027. This development builds upon the firm’s decades of experience in energy infrastructure, dating back to its founding in 1987.
