LinkedIn users report over one million instances of AI-generated content

More than one million users have utilized LinkedIn’s new reporting tool to flag content they perceive as AI-generated, a move aimed at curbing the influx of machine-authored posts. The feature, launched on July 30, marks the platform's aggressive response to concerns regarding the quality and authenticity of user feeds.

Chief product officer Hari Srinivasan confirmed the milestone in a recent update, noting that the platform is seeing a 40% reduction in views for content classified as AI slop compared to mid-summer metrics. The reporting tool arrived shortly after independent analysis from Pangram suggested that 41% of long-form posts on the site were fully generated by artificial intelligence.

Beyond the reporting button, the company has deployed enhanced classifiers to detect machine-written content and quietly sunset a feature previously used to automatically enhance posts. LinkedIn is also rolling out automated notifications to creators when their posts receive reports regarding AI-like characteristics. Srinivasan emphasized that the goal is to provide constructive feedback to users while maintaining a professional environment, following earlier efforts to restrict comments generated at scale without human involvement.
