Foot Locker and Nike Open Community-Focused Retail Hub in Crenshaw

Developed in collaboration with local influencers, including The Marathon Brand and designer Gavin Mathieu, the store aims to move beyond standard retail by embedding itself into the neighborhood’s social fabric. The facility features an open gym, an equipment room, and a resource center intended for year-round workshops, ranging from music academies to run clubs.

Samiel Asghedom, co-founder of The Marathon Brand, noted the personal significance of the site, which sits in the shopping center where his brother, Nipsey Hussle, once sold mixtapes. The initiative also introduces the Crenshaw Striper Program, a hiring pipeline for local residents, alongside exclusive product collaborations with Crenshaw High School and local entrepreneurs. The grand opening on Saturday will feature a 3v3 basketball tournament and a community swap meet.
