AVMAC Secures CMMC Level 2 Certification with Avatara Platform

The certification process, conducted by an independent C3PAO assessment team, validates that AVMAC can effectively protect Controlled Unclassified Information. According to Bert Ortiz, AVMAC’s CEO and a 31-year Navy veteran, the partnership allowed the firm to inherit approximately 80% of the 320 underlying assessment objectives immediately. This centralized approach enables the company to focus on technical services for the Department of War rather than managing fragmented security tools.

For defense contractors, the CMMC mandate creates a high barrier to entry that often forces firms to expand internal IT departments. AVMAC instead consolidated its operations into Avatara’s standardized, compliant environment. Rob McCormick, founder and CEO of Avatara, noted that this model shifts the technical burden of compliance from the contractor to the platform provider. For AVMAC, the move serves as a strategic differentiator; while other contractors wait for regulatory clarity, the firm has already established the independent verification required to maintain eligibility for federal work.
