Stryker spotlights caregiver support at 2026 BMW Championship
At the 2026 BMW Championship in St. Louis, Stryker is shifting the focus from medical technology to the human element of orthopedics. By featuring honorary observers Tammy and Larry Accola-Newell, the company aims to highlight how family support serves as the backbone of the joint replacement recovery process.

Tammy Accola-Newell, who struggled for years with debilitating knee pain, credits her return to an active lifestyle—including biking and playing with her grandchildren—to the BackInAction™ knee procedure and Mako SmartRobotics™. Beyond the surgical success, the couple’s presence on the course alongside PGA TOUR players underscores the necessity of a caregiver’s involvement during the transition from diagnosis to mobility.
From August 18 through August 23, the Bellerive Country Club will host Stryker’s Fan Activation in the Fan Zone near the second hole. Attendees can consult with orthopedic surgeons, access educational resources regarding joint health, and participate in interactive programming designed to demystify the patient recovery journey. The initiative emphasizes that while medical innovation provides the tools for healing, the support of loved ones remains the critical factor in restoring a patient’s confidence in movement.
