The Lumber Manufactory Opens $15 Million Sawmill in New Albany

The facility, now fully functional, aims to tap into the state’s extensive pine timber resources while simultaneously creating more than 50 new jobs for the local workforce.

The project represents a strategic move for the company, which was founded in 2023 by former executives from Anduril, Blue Origin, and Nvidia. By establishing this mill, the firm seeks to address the national gap between timber surplus and domestic lumber manufacturing capacity. Beyond the immediate employment boost, the facility opens a new commercial channel for private landowners to sell their timber within Union County.

Support for the venture arrived through a combination of state and local public partnerships. The Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance via the MFLEX tax incentive program, while AccelerateMS and Union County officials facilitated the integration into the Glenfield Industrial Park. CEO Michael Grasso cited the collaborative environment and available natural resources as primary drivers for selecting Mississippi as the site for the company's first mill.
