The International Year One in Business curriculum allows students to complete initial coursework online or at one of OIDI's physical hubs across eight countries. Upon completion, participants qualify to transition directly into business and economics degree tracks at Algoma University. This model aims to improve student readiness and confidence before they relocate for their final years of study.

Gary Palmer, managing director at OIDI, noted that the initiative addresses the need for scalable approaches to international enrollment. By leveraging OIDI’s digital platform and regional teaching infrastructure, Algoma University expects to diversify its student body while maintaining consistent academic standards. The program serves as a bridge for those who require more accessible entry points into the Canadian higher education system.
